Description: THIS SESSION IS FOR EMPLOYEES OF A MONTESSORI SCHOOL OR DISTRICT INSTRUCTIONAL STAFF SUPPORTING THOSE SCHOOLS ONLY This workshop will take place at MINC (405 W Franklin St, Chapel Hill, NC 27516). The workshop will be from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm with a one hour lunch break. Participants are encouraged to carpool. Parking information will be provided by email to those that register. Step into a fully realized Primary Montessori classroom and experience the power of the Prepared Environment in action. During this interactive workshop, participants will spend the morning exploring the essential elements of an authentic Montessori classroom, including intentional classroom design, the sequence and organization of materials within each curriculum area, support for independent learning, and the cultivation of respect for the environment and one another. Through observation, discussion, and reflection, both new and experienced Montessori educators will deepen their understanding of how the environment serves as a key driver of children's engagement, concentration, and growth. In the afternoon, participants will bridge vision to practice by examining how Montessori principles can be implemented within the realities of public school settings. Together, we will identify practical strategies, prioritize next steps, and develop actionable plans for transforming traditional classroom spaces into environments that more fully reflect Montessori philosophy. Teachers will leave inspired, equipped with concrete ideas, and ready to create meaningful change in their own classrooms.
