Location: Durham School of Technology DST Learning Lab
Description: During this exciting training session, employees will have the opportunity to learn valuable skills for effectively addressing conflicts and promoting a positive school environment. The school counselor and Registered Professional Counselor (RPC) at Durham School of Technology will share a practical adult Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) reset technique for handling challenging situations with grace and composure. Participants will gain insight into recognizing differences between bullying and peer conflicts, including cyberbullying examples, and will be empowered with knowledge about the school's reporting procedures. Through engaging role-playing exercises, attendees will practice using respectful language and restorative inquiries to create an inclusive and supportive atmosphere. The educational objectives of this training include learning a rapid adult SEL routine to stay calm in stressful situations, identifying signs of bullying and conflict, understanding the reporting process, and mastering dignified responses that meet the needs of all students. This session promises to equip participants with valuable tools and strategies for fostering a harmonious and respectful school community.
