Description: Join fellow social studies educators in a hands-on workshop designed to unlock the full potential of Document-Based Questions (DBQs). Participants will work with authentic primary and secondary sources to explore how DBQs can deepen content understanding, build historical thinking skills, reinforce close reading strategies, and guide students in crafting evidence-based arguments. You'll walk away with practical tools, scaffolded strategies, and lesson-ready materials for your classroom.

Description: What if every student had a structure to clarify, communicate, and build on their thinking—every day, in every subject? This interactive session introduces powerful thinking routines that promote deeper learning and academic discourse across K–12 classrooms. Participants will explore routines like See-Think-Wonder, Claim-Support-Question, and Connect-Extend-Challenge, and learn how to embed them into existing lessons. Through modeling, practice, and planning time, teachers will leave with ready-to-use strategies and a clear implementation plan tailored to their content area. Whether you're new to thinking routines or looking to refine your practice, this session will equip you with tools to make student thinking visible, accessible, and meaningful.

Description: Arts educators will align current lesson/unit plans with the new NCDPI K-12 Arts Education standards. The session will include and introduction to the new standards with focus on what is the same and what looks different. Teachers will have some guided time to explore their content specific changes. Finally, teachers will use current lesson plans or samples lesson plans provided and realign them with the new standards.
