Participants will explore how to use this protocol to make evidence-based observations, avoid biases, and identify actionable steps to support student growth. Through guided practice and reflective discussions, educators will develop skills to analyze student work effectively, enhance equity in instruction, and refine their teaching strategies.

Participants will develop a clear understanding of "planning with the end in mind" by learning and applying the steps of backwards design. Through this process, participants will learn how to create more meaningful and focused instructional plans that align with desired outcomes. While this session will emphasize literacy instruction, the principles of backwards design are universally applicable and can be adapted for any subject area. HMH will be the curriculum resource.
