Learn about various forms of trauma students experience and effective strategies for catering instruction and relationship building using trauma informed practices.
This session is for CKH schools ONLY. Participants will have the opportunity to revisit, explore, and further grow the foundational skills learned from Capturing Kids’ Hearts PD. This is a full-staff training (new and returning). Elementary (1:00-3:30p) MS (2:00-4:30p)
Classroom management strategies that incorporate restorative practices into our routines. Restorative Practices focus on fostering a sense of community within classrooms to prevent conflict, and on reacting to misconduct by encouraging students to accept responsibility and rebuild relationships.

Authentic implementation of your school’s cultural framework is the tool by which the culture (i.e. personality) of your classroom can be redefined such that the climate (i.e. attitude) supports a learning space conducive for increasing a student’s sense of belonging.During this professional learning, participants will be able to reflect upon the culture (i.e., personality) and climate (i.e. attitude) of their classroom and apply new techniques which will positively impact student academic performance.Participants will learn the key aspects of the cultural framework, restorative practices, which focus’ on resolving conflict, creating positive relationships, repairing harm, healing relationships, and reducing disciplinary incidents. The training is specific for teachers at schools with experience implementing the cultural framework, Capturing Kids Hearts (CKH).The participants will learn ways in which the key components of CKH align with and support restorative practices implementation.
This session will provide an introduction on how to utilize best practices in recognizing and identifying the Antecedent, Behavior, and Consequence of the escalation cycle.
This training will equip school level student support services staff to administer the Student Safety Assessment Protocol.This protocol assess a students level of risk of self harm.This session is typically for School Counselors, School Social Workers, School Psychologists, Mental Health Counselors and School Nurses who were hired after August.
Elementary School Social Workers will participate in this session to learn about strategies that will help ensure a smooth transition for our students being served in the McKinney Vento Program as the school district.A review of pertinent McKinney Vento Law and School Board Policy will also be included.The session may also be appropriate for elementary school counselors and other attendance/enrollment team members.

Participants will learn about the characteristics and learning styles of ASD and strategies to address educational and social emotional issues that affect success in the general education classroom. The format of this workshop will include presentations, videos, interactive discussions based on case studies and small group activities.

Please join Peaceful Schools faculty for a free, full day session covering the essential Restorative Practices for Educators. In this intensive day-long training you will learn the essential components of Restorative Practices and Restorative Justice. Led by trained IIRP facilitators, the training will provide :a fundamental understanding of Restorative Practices in schools and youth centersthe mindset of a relationship-based approach to discipline and conflict resolutionthe process and practice of leading proactive community-building circles and activitieswhen and how to lead restorative conversations and healing circlesresources, reflection, and planning for effective school-wide implementationWe will be meeting onsite and outdoors (with cover in an open air pavilion) at DPS Hub Farm from 8:30am to 4:00pm on Wednesday, April 10th. Lunch will be on our own, so please bring a sack lunch, or be prepared to drive for a few minutes to grab something.
