Equity in Advanced Academics Leadership Committee The responsibilities of the Equity in Advanced Academics Leadership Committee include, but are not limited, to the following: review annually the local AIG plan to ensure school alignment determine the extent to which the local plan for the previous year was implemented at the school develop annual goals and priorities based on the AIG Program Standards, Critical Actions for Equity and Excellence, district initiatives, key priorities, and school improvement plans monitor the progress of annual goals at each meeting review and make recommendations on student nominations for district level AIG Identification advocate for equitable access to advanced learning opportunities for all advanced students

Participants will learn about effective strategies for increasing student rigor through higher level questioning. During the session we will brainstorm and discuss the benefits of using higher level questions within the classroom or small group settings for all students. Lastly, we will practice the use of higher level questions in the classroom.

Ignite Online Academy staff will learn look at common myths about gifted students, will read and discuss the article 4The Glass Ceiling,4 will learn specifics about AIG/Advanced Academics in DPS and at Ignite, and will work in small groups to read through student profiles and determine if the student should be referred for AIG identification or nurtured.
