About me
Steven Gupton is a District Beginning Teacher Mentor in the Office of Equity and Professional Learning. In this role, he works closely with new and early-career teachers to help them develop and grow as educators. Working closely with school and district leaders, he helps determine best practices and approaches for supporting teachers. He assists through individual and group consultation, professional development, modeling, observing classroom instruction, and providing feedback.
In addition to his role with Durham Public Schools, Steven serves as a member of Governor Cooper's Teacher Advisory Committee - advising Governor Cooper on the state budget and proposed or pending state or federal legislation, policies, and regulations that may have an impact on education within the state. He has worked with legislators, institutions of higher learning, and educators throughout the state to open entry into the teaching profession.
Steven still works as a paramedic in his community and enjoys being an Instructor/Lead Program Coach in the emergency medical science/paramedic program at Wake Tech Community College.
