About me
I am an educator of 22 years. I spent 11 years teaching Spanish, French and Portuguese over grades K-12 and 2 NC school districts. For 10 years I was the World Languages & DL/I Specialist for Durham Public Schools. Additionally, I serve as the EL Family Engagement Specialist for Durham Public Schools from March 2023 until July of 2024. Currently, I am an Assistant Principal Intern at Little River Elementary School. I am a member of ACTFL, NADSFL, SCOLT & FLANC; currently a FLANC board member, serving as Awards Chair. I speak 4 languages fluently and I am what I like to call "dangerous" in about 4 others. I did my undergrad studies at UNC-Wilmington and have my Masters degree in Spanish Phonetics and Linguistics from the Universidad IberAmericana de Puerto Rico as well as having my National Boards Certification in World Languages. Currently, I am working on my second Masters degree at NCCU in School Administration. In addition to being an educator, I have 2 side hustles; I am a professional mermaid (Mermaid Meldy) for hire for parties and events as well as I have a small bakery business (Meldycakes Bakery) out of my home.
