About me
I have a passion for working with students who come from different backgrounds and countries since I am an immigrant from Chile. I grew up in a bilingual home in El Paso, Texas where I got my Master's in Counseling. I taught 23 years in Jefferson, Douglas and El Paso Counties in Colorado where I worked with English Language Learners in a variety of ways. I received my AIG or Gifted and Talented certificate from University of Denver where I did my internship to teach and identify migrant students. After earning my K-12 CLDE (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Educator) or English as a second language credentials from Universtiy of Colorado in Denver I was fortunate to gain experience at bilingual/dual language and IB or International Baccalaureate schools. I received an EC or special education endorsement from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and gained more valuable experience in this area working at the secondary level. I also have a background in teaching art which is something I feel should be integrated into the curriculum along with technology. I enjoy sharing ideas and collaborating with other teachers!
