Description: Structures of Equality (SoEs) framework is a reading comprehension tool designed to help students visualize and understand a story problem and make sense of what is being asked. The SoE framework includes 3 unique Structures of Equality models: Parts Equal Total, Compare, and Repeated Equal Groups. All the math stories described in the NC Unpacking Documents can be modeled using these 3 SoEs. A SoE has 3 specific and unique qualities. 1. They have values 2. They have labels 3. They represent the equality (or relationships) occurring in the story. In comparison with most tape or bar models seen in textbooks, a SoE diagram is a more precise depiction of the actual story. During the Structures of Equality Website Overview PD the learner will- 1. Interact with the SoE Website (bring charged laptop) 2. Receive an overview of Structures of Equality 3. Learn about resources the support SoE implementation
