Description: This professional development session, “From Compliance to Commitment: Aligning Restorative Practices with the School Improvement Plan (SIP),” is designed to help school leaders and teams integrate restorative practices into their existing improvement strategies. Participants will explore how the revised Code of Conduct aligns with SIP priorities, ensuring discipline approaches foster inclusivity and equity. The session emphasizes creating or refining SIP goals and action steps that reflect a restorative culture, inclusive discipline, and strong family engagement. Attendees will learn practical strategies to embed these principles into school systems for sustainable impact. A key outcome will be the development of a 30-60-90 day action step plan to guide implementation and monitor progress of the relevant indicators in NCStar. By the end of the session, participants will leave with actionable steps to transform compliance-driven practices into a commitment to restorative values that strengthen school climate and student success.
