Description: Educational Trauma occurs when students experience harm within educational systems - through inequitable discipline, low expectations, systemic bias, or repeated academic failure. At Jordan High School, this manifests in disengagement, absenteeism, low GPAs, and disciplinary disproportionality among Black and Brown students. This PD equips faculty and staff with tools to recognize, respond to, and prevent educational trauma, aligning with Durham Public Schools’ Strategic Plan 2023 - 2028 goals of Equity & Excellence, Whole Child & Student Wellness, and Belonging.
