Description: This session will focus on: prevalence of trauma and chronic stress in schools; impacts of acute (i.e., recent) and chronic (i.e., ongoing) trauma and stress on the brain, body, and functioning of students and school personnel; understanding that behavior is a form of communication; school practices for responding to and/or preventing trauma reactions and promoting feelings of safety, competency, and connection for improved school functioning; and how to implement stress and trauma-informed practices to promote resilience in the broader school workforce.
