Alec Virgil is a Social Studies educator with Durham Public Schools and the 2025 Durham Public Schools Teacher of the Year. He is committed to empowering students through civic literacy, critical thinking, and real-world learning experiences that help them understand their place within their school community and the broader society. Through his work in the classroom and community initiatives, Alec focuses on helping people recognize their voice, develop leadership skills, and understand how their contributions can positively shape the communities they are part of.
