Local Community Art Partner, the Durham Symphony Orchestra has invited Atlanta based composer, Joel Thompson to engage with faculty around working through social justice spaces with Arts. We will examine the role of the arts in exploring socio-political topics and themes, in and out of the classroom. We will explore practical ways to use the arts to foster a sense of belonging in the classroom and school community. We will discuss strategies for cultivating brave, welcoming and inclusive spaces for students.
