Wondering how to reduce your out-of-the-classroom grading hours? How to motivate students who struggle to get started on their work? Learn about a classwork grading system where kids keep an organized binder with numbered pages that you stamp during class (for completion or accuracy, you choose!), with 10-minute binder checks happening in class every other week or so. This system keeps kids organized and motivated (they want their stamps!), reduces grading for you as a teacher, and ensures that you check in with each student multiple times per class. The overarching goal of Depth and Complexity is to move students towards expert knowledge of content. In their research Bette Gould and Sandra Kaplan looked to understand how an expert understands their field differently from a layperson. They identified eleven of these traits and assigned a name and a symbol to each. The idea is that students can move closer to an expert’s level of understanding by thinking through these same lenses. A CEU link for 1.5 hours of Professional Learning will be shared upon completion.

The purpose of this workshop is to enhance the skills of the learner when working with all types of students and will help support and implement the plans of a group session or PBL Club.

Authentic implementation of your school’s cultural framework is the tool by which the culture (i.e. personality) of your classroom can be redefined such that the climate (i.e. attitude) supports a learning space conducive for increasing a student’s sense of belonging.During this professional learning, participants will be able to reflect upon the culture (i.e., personality) and climate (i.e. attitude) of their classroom and apply new techniques which will positively impact student academic performance.Participants will learn the key aspects of the cultural framework, restorative practices, which focus’ on resolving conflict, creating positive relationships, repairing harm, healing relationships, and reducing disciplinary incidents. The training is specific for teachers at schools with experience implementing the cultural framework, Capturing Kids Hearts (CKH).The participants will learn ways in which the key components of CKH align with and support restorative practices implementation.
Teachers will explore the various resources they can use to facilitate small group instruction. Teachers will learn to plan for small group reading lessons. This topic will span over the course of 3-4 sessions
The purpose of this training is to develop the skillset to access and utilize the Eureka Math and it's tools to support EC students in the Resource and Inclusive classrooms.

Expanding the Gizmos Experience helps teachers develop a deeper understanding of how to integrate Gizmos into their curriculum, and effective uses of whole group and small group instruction.
