Participants will receive training on how to use Reading Mastery as a direct instruction program for EC or other targeted groups in the resource classroom.
In this session, teachers will learn how to use the Language for Learning Program to provide direct instruction to EC students in the resource classroom.
Participants will learn about different types of data collection methodologies, how and when to implement them, and will be provided sample forms. Participants will also learn how to graph and analyze data. (Bring your laptop if you have one.)
Participants will learn how to prevent problem behavior and teach new behaviors using positive reinforcement. Participants will also learn how to decrease problem behaviors with research-based interventions.
Participants will learn the steps to conducting a comprehensive functional behavior assessment, how to analyze data to develop a hypothesis regarding the function of the students’ behavior, how to write an effective behavior intervention plan and how to monitor that plan.
Restorative practices is an essential process for creating a positive learning environment, building social capital, and resolving relational issues. During this two-day introductory experience, participants will learn the fundamental theory for restorative practices, and explore practices for building and strengthening relationships and community.
This session will provide an introduction on how to utilize best practices in recognizing and identifying the Antecedent, Behavior, and Consequence of the escalation cycle.
Participants will learn how to plan lessons using the Unique Learning System (ULS) curriculum for students on the Extended Content Standards. Participants will also learn how to implement these lessons in a remote situation.
Participants will learn the characteristics of students with autism and their impact on student behavior in the classroom. Strategies/interventions for working with students with autism will be taught.
In this course you will learn what it takes to build constructive relationships with your students, actively shape positive conversations with them all while building an environment of trust.
This workshop focuses on the most effective way of interaction between teachers and students in the classroom and the afterschool setting. The teacher's reaction must be positive and help to build better relationships with the student.
Participants will learn the eligibility criteria for students to qualify for ESY services, how to analyze data to determine eligibility and how to complete the DPS ESY eligibility packet.
Participants will learn how to implement research-based interventions for teaching and reinforcing new skills/behaviors including how to use imitation training, shaping and chaining and how to implement contingency contracts, differential reinforcement and self-management systems for students.
Participants will review procedures for conducting Functional Behavior Assessments and learn research-based interventions to implement as part of students’ Behavior Intervention Plans. This training is recommended for staff who have already taken the FBA & BIP training.
**Participants must attend BOTH sessions.** Day 1: This 12-hour workshop (two 6-hour sessions) will focus on educating students ages 5-18 with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), who spend the majority of their day in the general education classroom following the standard course of study. Participants will learn about the characteristics and learning styles of ASD and strategies to address educational and social emotional issues that affect success in the general education classroom. The format of this workshop will include presentations, videos, interactive discussions based on case studies and small group activities.
**Participants must attend BOTH sessions.** Day 2: This 12-hour workshop (two 6-hour sessions) will focus on educating students ages 5-18 with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), who spend the majority of their day in the general education classroom following the standard course of study. Participants will learn about the characteristics and learning styles of ASD and strategies to address educational and social emotional issues that affect success in the general education classroom. The format of this workshop will include presentations, videos, interactive discussions based on case studies and small group activities.
Participants will learn how to establish school-based internships for students in middle and high school. Participants will learn how to prepare students for internships, including conducting ecological assessments, providing direct instruction and evaluating student performance.
Participants will review current schools of thought on the pre-vocational and vocational skills students need to be productive in achieving their post-secondary goals. They will learn strategies/methods used to develop those skills through community-based instruction, and how that training and experience can be reflected in IEP transition planning.

DEADLINE TO REGISTER IS Feb 26th! Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among children and adolescents ages 12-18. Curriculum is also helpful to staff members who work with elementary aged students. Skills learned in this course are helpful for both professional and personal dynamics; relationships; and interactions. Course is blended learning format. 5 hours in-person with 2 hours of pre-work. Pre-work does not have to completed in one sitting. Confirmation of course registration with additional course information will be sent to registrants prior to training start date. In this workshop staff will learn proper gym techniques, how to provide proper supervision while having fun at the same time and how to modify games according to the child's age.
Ensure Data Managers, Counselors and Test Coordinators understand the policies regarding dropping students from EOC courses and the implications of doing so after the 10th day for semester courses or 20th day for year long courses. Provide course codes for EOC courses and reminders for online and Credit Recovery EOC courses.
