Presented by Skylar Zee from UNC-Duke Consortium for Latin American and Caribbean Studies. The session will provide a historical overview of the Maya civilization and highlight the presence of many North Carolinians with Maya ancestry. Participants will start making their own Maya codex and receive instructions and guides for recreating the activity in their own classrooms. Additional materials and resources from the Consortium in Latin American and Caribbean Studies at UNC and Duke University will be featured.
