4Getting to Know Your ELs4 for administrators and refresher/updated content for those who have already engaged in this learning. School leaders will gain a strong understanding of their school's EL population, including goals for growth and proficiency.
Teachers will learn comprehensive strategies for planning and delivering effective instruction to English Learners. SIOP (Sheltered Immersion Observation Protocol) strategies are designed to teach academic language in any content area, including math, social studies, science, ELA, or electives.

As a result of this activity, the participating SLP will be able to compare SLP evaluation reports to Durham Public Schools and NC Department of Public Instruction (March 2021; p. 9-13, 62-70) assessment guidelines and procedures through an objective and supportive checklist- based review process. The DPS VPR process strives to ensure:1. consistent application of Durham Public Schools and NC Department of Public Instruction (March 2021; p. 9-13, 62-70) assessment guidelines and procedures through an objective and supportive checklist-based peer review process.2. continuous growth of DPS SLP knowledge of evaluative practices necessary for conducting a child- centered evaluation plan, for any age/ school setting.3. participating SLPs can identify the formal/ informal measures used at any level, describe the relevant and significant data the formal/ informal measures provide, and analyze the assessment summary for parent- friendly communication of measure outcomes and a Golden Thread of clear and consistent descriptions of student performance throughout the report.
